Once your candle wax is used up, you don’t have to say goodbye. Have you considered upcycling that beautiful glass candle jar? Taking something that is no longer of use and giving it a second life is referred to as upcycling. It’s easier to do than you think, and something that you’ll feel great about doing.
Today, we’re sharing some candle jar upcycling ideas that we found useful at our home. And don’t worry, we’ll walk through a simple clean-up process to prepare your jar for its new purpose. Let’s have fun and start getting inspired! Here are 10 ideas for what you can do to upcycle your jar.
HOME DECORATION
1. Flower Vase: Perhaps this is the prettiest way to reuse your jar. Just add some water and fresh flowers.
2. Planter: Kitchen herbs, anyone? It’s easy to grow basil, mint and other popular culinary herbs by your kitchen window. It also adds some life and color to complement your kitchen décor.

3. Pen & Pencil Holder: Give your basic office supply organizers an upgrade.
4. Change Jar: Because you deserve a tip.
5. Makeup Brush Holder: One of my personal favorites.
6. Toothbrush & Toothpaste Holder: These easy to handwash jars make for a perfect solution to store your toothbrushes and toothpaste tubes.
7. Toiletries: Cotton balls, q-tips, nail clippers, tweezers. Give you bathroom countertop a spa-like appeal while neatly organizing your toiletries. That’s multi-tasking!

8. Tea or Coffee Holder: Loose tea, coffee beans, popcorn kernels, sugar, rice, flour… Should we keep going? Your upcycled candle jar is perfect for food storage and comes with a natural bamboo like with silicone ring to seal the deal.
9. Candy Jar: Big enough to hold your favorite candies, but small enough to still hide ‘em from everyone else.

PREPARING YOUR CANDLE JAR
1. Warm it up: Warm up the wax to melt it. There are a number of ways to do this, but I like putting our jars in a toaster oven on 175 Degrees Fahrenheit for about 15 minutes.
2. Clean it out: Grab the hot jar with a mitt or towel and pour out the contents into a garbage can (just not the sink please since you wouldn’t want that wax to harden and build up in the plumbing). Wipe away any excess heavy wax with a paper towel. Use a spoon to scrape out the wick tabs stickered to the bottom of the glass.
3. Give it a final rinse: Wash away any wax left over with dish soap and warm water. Dish soap works wonders for dissolving wax.
